A word of caution: a Roman Catholic wedding is very different from protestant and non-denominational wedding ceremonies. If not in the actual words that are said then in the mood and mystery behind the whole thing. Catholics consider weddings to be a relgious sacrament. An interesting fact: the priest does not perform this sacrament. It's true! The priest is there as an official witness from the church. Matthew and I perform the sacrament ourselves in our commitment to one another. :) Anyway, here's what to expect from theceremony:
1. Traditional preludes and processions
2. Matthew and I will be seated near the altar (most likely)
3. The priest will address everyone; this is where it becomes a traditional Catholic Mass
4. There will be a reading from the Old Testament, then a sung Psalm, then a reading from the New Testament, most likely a letter from St. Paul
5. The priest will read from one of the Gospels. Possibly he will give a homily (sermon) afterwards, we're not sure.
6. We get back to the wedding stuff! I do's, exchanging of rings, the whole nine yards.
7. We process out. We will then come in and dismiss you to go to the reception pew by pew. Head on over *go ahead and eat!!!* We'll be another 45 minutes for pictures!
